Picture perfect

I am joining the ranks of thousands of far more talented and experienced artists in the world of photography. My New Years Goal (it sounds more attainable then resolution) is to please my inner artist and love behind the lens by taking at least one photograph a week document my 'do it yourself' journey. This journey will be credited to trial and error each week as I learn the ins and outs of my beautiful new piece of equipment. (Thank you dear husband!)
I love reminiscing nearly forgotten memories. My mother helped instill an appreciation of my past by journaling each one of mine and my 8 siblings lives through beautifully constructed photo albums. Her product of choice was Creative Memories, and those albums are in now in my home on a shelf to be viewed by anyone who's ready for an adventure down my Memory Lane. She taught me that photos are too beautiful to be left in a box in the attic. They are meant to be shared. An irony that I have discovered in our digital world is that in place of a box in the attic, thousands of pictures are sitting in our computer or our iPhones and nobody will ever see their beauty! I'm not suggesting you go and make a Facebook album of all 1452 photos in your phone! It's all about quality over quantity! But, I am saying that being able to share favorite memories in some sort of album be it digital or shutter-fly is something you will never regret. iPhones get lost and computers crash, so having an intentional photo journal is incredibly important. Thus, my blog. My objective is to not only have a venue in which to share/store my photo journey, but is also to be there so you can help, critique and educate me further in the world of photography. Or you may just want to tell me this is a waste of time(thanks for stopping by), if your my mother it will be to leave her endearing and always encouraging comments.
Sometime I will write about why I am so inspired by photos, I will also go into further detail in how my husband was the driving force behind my creative journey. Today however, I will showcase two shots that I took of my good friend and her brother.  Probably one of the cutest brother and sister combos I know:) In Excelsior, Minn (a hidden gem of the twin cities) there is a wall where someone painted 'I love you' on it. The city decided instead of removing the 'act of vandalism' it should remain as part of the town.

The next few pictures were not only fun to take but were significant as to the sun setting on his soccer career as transition to college is near.

I am so raw at this, but am so excited to see a progression and learn new things each week.
